Poetry

TreacherousOnce was a woman with flawless complexion
Proved to be all gentlemen's distraction
Nothing was there that she couldn't achieve
No one was there that she wouldn't deceive
Silent cruelty beneath all her lies
Plotting each of her enemies' demise
The things she did, the things she said
Made little white lies turn bloody red
Pretty and appealing, like a reward
By all kinds of people she was adored
The beautiful vixen's fame soon increased
But behind her beauty was roaring a beast
With her black soul her days were sunny
Lying her way through to guilt-free money
However this damsel never grew to be old
She went to Hell with the last lie that she told

Prose

St. Cloud Chronicles Part 3Sitting with my legs crossed in the middle of my room, I keep my hands clapped together and focus intently on my breathing. Eventually, I close my eyes, putting myself in a meditative state.
I feel my senses dull dramatically. The cars passing by that I used to hear effortlessly is now silent. My body goes numb, and I can’t even tell if I’m still in my sitting position or if I’m lying down. In place of my dulling senses, I’m beginning to feel new sensations. I can hear water, like I’m on a beach. I can feel the watery spray on my face, and it smells like I’m in a rainforest.
When I open my eyes, I find myself somewhere else entirely.
When I stand up, discovering that I’m on a little island, probably about twenty feet long at best, I quickly see why I felt those particular sensations. The water that surrounds the island does look clear, reflecting a few rainbows off of the light surrounding me. I can’t see where the light source comes from
breatheThere is a scar between his shoulder blades, and he rather fancies the thought that every time he lies it grows.
Of course, if that were the case, it would have covered him twice over by now. But it's still a nice thought anyways.
He can't remember when he has last told the truth. He can't remember if he ever has. It sounds horribly dull, to him. He can't be bothered to see if that's true.
The lies are what keeps things interesting, after all. They make it brighter, harder, suffocating and drowning him in his words. He breathes through it, and it lets him live.
Usually, it isn't much of anything at all. Just a small 'yes' instead of a 'no,' and a 'no' instead of a 'yes,' and an excuse that he's too busy to go. Little things, white lies that everybody tells. Those are natural, and though it gives him a slight sense of triumph, it still isn't enough.
But if the lie is big enough, he can feel the tingling spreading from his back and slipping down his spine. It sends a quick jolt of excite

Absolutely lovely entries, it's a shame I can't pick more than one feature per genre. Thanks to everyone!
