The piece that stood out to me most was:

The conclusion of this one really struck me. It's also quite fitting, because even when we're caught in a horrible storm, dancing in the rain is sometimes the best thing we can do.

For those of you who use the writing prompt, please remember to put the Live-Love-Write icon in your artist's comments if using the prompt, and please submit to the Writing Prompt gallery for your feature every week!

Please keep in mind that if you do not see your submission here, you have not read the submission rules and/or you have not included some variation of Live-Love-Write in your Artist's Comments. Last Week's Writing Prompt

“Surviving the Storm”

Poetry
:thumb283790798: WeatheringThunder smacks our bedroom window,
And you snuggle close to me.
I ignore the sky's flashing
And the legato sweep of rain outside.
Surviving the storm is a matter of keeping you close.
I return from distant business
And seem to you still absent.
I've ignored the soft sweep
Of doubts and hesitations.
Surviving means getting away from you.
It comes easy
When the wind breaks tree limbs
And Kansas thunder lashes our roof.
But the dull monotony of cold,
Soaking wind
And rain,
The grey skies of staying
Put in a place
I don't belong . . .
That's harder to weather.
let me take a breathyou cascade over me
like the rushing tides
pulling me in and pushing me out
never letting me catch my breath
filling my lungs with
the salty sea foam
never letting me breathe
your hands encase my heart
like the spindly web of a spider
you roll it around, bind it tight
before biting and sucking the life
(the love)
out of me and
filling my lungs with
my own blood
but i can only smile as you do
yet and still i wont breathe
your body is like a hurricane
splashing me with
the refreshing cool waters
and killing me with
the death-dealing winds
of your disdain
you worry not about your center,
knowing you are well protected
and i
just wait for you to calm
and throw me down
so i can breathe
Survivng the Storm
Watch me closely.
Do you see this?
This is a needle.
This is my hand.
This is pain.
Flashlight flicker in my cranium,
Fishbowl smashed on the floor,
Choking on fresh air
Daylight burning my  retinas
And bouncing inside my head.
Cold penetrates every pore
And reaches inside my eardrums.
Inhale, exhale through the vacuum,
Drive your eyeballs out of your head,
Open your face, pour this soap in, excrete the bar.
Bathe in cyanide, don't drink the water.
Cloudless cover fills my lungs,
My fingertips feel everything
Without touching anything.
I feel all movement when I stand still.
My eyes reach down in my nose,
And search for cover.
My ears have nowhere to hide.
Venture out from cover.
Surviving the storm is important,
But we need to be struck by lightning
To remember we're still here.
:thumb283890031: :thumb284015423: :thumb284021976: A FightBombs drop around me
He said this, she said that
Gun shots fire
"I hate you!"
"Good because I never like you anyway!"
People, relationships are torn apart
One stands in the middle of this ensuing chaos not understand fully whats going on, just wishing it will end soon
The chaos dies down a little
She thinks its over the...
*Bang*
Death takes one with a through and through
*Creak*
Another one lost to the rope to help ease grief
*Drip*
The sound of blood on paper and floor with a note that reads, "My friends gone, what is there to live for?"
*Gulp*
The sound as one overdoeses and falls asleep to never wake again
Using pain medication to ease her emotion
*Swish*
The sound as one drinks himself away
With 5 friends lost one lonely girl sits hugging her kneww and crying
"Everyone, everyone... could you not see that with time...with a few weeks...a few months...everything would go back to normal..."
She just sits there crying
